Rheostats (Dimmers) are electronic devices that are able to regulate the load they control (lamps, electronic and inductive transformers, fans etc). During the regulation, rheostats can change the consumed energy, thus saving energy.

There are many different categories of rheostats depending on load type and installation type.

All rheostats are connected on 230V voltage or in the input of the transformer. If a rheostat is connected on 12V voltage, this can lead to rheostat destruction.

In case of short-circuit, the rheostat is only protected when the recommended fuse is used.
